This gel traps fluids in the stool, adding consistency and slowing its passage through the intestines, reducing symptoms of diarrhea. Therefore, for individuals suffering from diarrhea, eating apples without the peel may be beneficial.’
Apart from all this, to consume apple for gut health, Malhotra says that cooking the apple makes it easier to extract the pectin content from it. In this situation, pectin works as a prebiotic and promotes the number of good bacteria in the intestines.
